Super Pi Benchmarking

11 Feb 2007 - 23:00

Hey guys, I wanna see what kind of systems you are all running. Basically my buddies and I have this constant Overclocking  War @ College, and so I thought it'd be fun to put the war on the net.

Basically what you do is post your computer specs, and then you download Super Pi Mod (its like a 1 MB file.)
You can download it http://files.extreme...m/file.php?f=36.

Basically what you do is run it @ 1M digits. This is the benchmark. Basically you record how long it takes your computer to calculate Pi to 1 Million Digits.

So, here are my specs

AMD Athlon 3200+ Overclocked from 2.0 to 2.61 (from 200 in the BIOS to 260, Max is 300 which is a 110% overclock)
2 GBs of Corsair DDR RAM
ASUS Mobo.
Windows Vista

When not overclocked I Pi @ about 47 Seconds. When overclocked I Pi @ 36 Seconds. Keep min mind that I use Windows Vista, and that my Pi would be around 32 Secs on XP, but Meh, 36 is good enough for me!

Here is the SS

Windows Vista

30 Jan 2007 - 11:21

So, yesterday i officially got my "Copy" of Windows Vista RTM (Release-To-Manufacture). At around 1 AM the RTM to MSDN ISO Patch was released (officially) and I patched that. I'm preparing to install Vista today. Checked the MD5 with posts from people who had the actual MSDN version and it came back positive, so I am pretty psyched for it. Microsoft has gone through a lot of anti-piracy this time though. Each key unlocks a different version of the product (Home, Home Premium, Busniess, and Ultimate). Furthermore it is specifically timed to expire after 43000 minutes of use. My guess is that people will fully patch this is a matter of weeks, if not days. There is currently a "Method" to patch it so that that 43000 never goes down. If anyone else has the OS I'd like to see your opinion on it. I'll be posting mine by the end of the week, but I want to give it a more thorough go-through.

Apple iPhone!

09 Jan 2007 - 23:21

So, after months of speculation throughout various internet communities, our wildest imagination has come true. Hate them or love them, Apple Computers Inc has a place with everyone. Due to their unparalleled success with the iPod, Apple has decided to enter into every possible market. The geniuses in their department took a look at the Blackberry, a look at the iPod, and a look at MP3 Cellphones and said, "We can make this better," and so they did... By making the iPhone. Not much is currently known about the product, and their website does state:

"

This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.

"

So, what we are seeing IS possibly the final markettable product, or maybe the beta version, one thing is for sure, there will be an iPhone.
