Hello,
I am currently in the process of buying parts for a new PC I'm making, and I'd like suggestions/pointers if possible
MotherBoard:
EVGA P55 V SLI Motherboard - Intel P55, Socket LGA1156, SLI+PhysX
http://www.tigerdire...1067&CatId=4725
Processor:
Intel Core i7 860 Processor BX80605I7860 - 2.80GHz, LGA 1156, 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core
http://www.tigerdire...9972&CatId=4728
RAM:
OCZ PC3-10666 Platinum RAM - 4GB, 2x2GB, 1333MHz, DDR3, Low Voltage, Dual Channel
http://www.tigerdire...4&Sku=O261-6258
HD:
Haven't Decided Yet
Graphics Cards:
BFG BFGEGTX2851024OCBE GeForce GTX 285 OverClocked (B) Video Card - 1GB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV
(Going to use 2 in SLi)
http://www.tigerdire...3190&CatId=3669
Now with this setup, I was wondering how strong of a power supply will I need? 800w? 1000w? 1200w?
What brand for HDs are good? I have been told that Western Digital is the best, true?
What are your opinions on SSDs? worth it?
Considering the parts i have listed above, is there any changes you would make so I can get a higher performance for not much more cost?
Is it True that OC your processor decreases its life span? OC worth it?
Sorry for the many questions,
But Thanks in Advance

I'd recommend against a socket LGA1156. Take a look at a socket LGA1366. That's what I just bought. (http://www.directcan...acture=GIGABYTE)

For just $30.00 more, you could get a i7 920. (http://www.directcan...nufacture=INTEL)

OCZ does make great RAM. Your RAM costs $22.50/GB, while the RAM I bought cost #23.94/GB. I went triple channel and got mine for $143.60. (http://www.directcan...CZ%20TECHNOLOGY)

That'd work, but DirectCanada is cheaper. They also don't charge for shipping, and it's out of Ontario, so no PST. (http://www.directcan...manufacture=BFG)

I have two 9800 GTX, and three hard disk drives. I'm using an Antec Truepower 750W. That should be more than enough. Unless you plan on running a five-hundred disk array. (http://www.directcan...nufacture=ANTEC)

The answers are Seagate, and not in one-million years.

Go LGA1366, and triple channel.

Over-clocking is fun from time to time. Overall, don't plan on it for constant useage. Over-clocking can cause the system to become unstable, but I don't see why it would cause damage with adequate cooling, and as long as you're not upping the voltage by 1.21 gigavolts.
